As the New Year gets well underway, we’ve hit the ground running with the launch of our 2021 roadmap, which introduced the development plan for our five core products: OScore, ONT ID, ONTO, Wing, and SAGA.

Latest Developments

Development Progress

• Completed 10% of the Ontology EVM-integrated design, which will be fully compatible with the Ethereum contract ecology after completion.

Product Development

• Released ONTO v3.6.7. This version supports Huobi ECO Chain (Heco), improves upon the Data and Help Center pages, and adds an asset type display as well as a blind box ad feature. More than 3,600 users opened blind boxes, of which 2,500 users received rewards.
• ONTO added support for 5 Binance Smart Chain dApps and 5 Huobi ECO Chain dApps. It also added support for BakerySwap’s official liquidity mining activities and also a news feed from CHAINNEWS on the information page.

• 110 dApps launched in total on MainNet
• 6,257,818 dApp transactions completed in total on MainNet

Community Growth

The Ontology team keeps on growing! This week we onboarded 1,639 new members across Ontology’s global communities.

Route Planning

Ontology released this year’s roadmap Sense 2021. The main focus centered around decentralized identity (DeID) and data, with the continued promotion of decentralized governance and bringing more innovative use cases.

Global Events

• This month Li Jun, the founder of Ontology, was invited to attend the first Blockchain Innovators Assembly hosted by Bibi News where he participated in a discussion on public chain performance, alongside the founder of TRON and CTO of PlatON, Li Jun showcased his views on pressing topics at the moment, including the competition and collaboration with Ethereum, different methods of increasing on-chain scalability and privacy protection. Other subjects discussed at the assembly included the improvement of interoperability between public chains, and the development patterns of public chains in 2021.
• At the end of 2020, the Ontology team was invited to a blockchain discussion sponsored by Tuoniao Blockchain. This event saw a discussion on Ontology’s achievements in 2020 and development plans for 2021.

• Ontology’s Jun Li on credit-based DeFi and more real assets coming to blockchain in 2021

Li Jun was interviewed by Forkast.News where he reflected on the most noteworthy developments for the industry in 2020 as well as providing a look ahead to the next 12 months.

• Crypto adoption in 2021: Top trends and predictions on what may come

“The prospects for 2021 look bright as major forces driving adoption in 2020 will remain powerful.”

Erick Pinos, the Americas Ecosystem Lead at Ontology also gave his thoughts on what 2021 might have in store for the crypto world. ”

• Blockchain regulations to look for in 2021

Erick Pinos was also featured in App Developer Magazine commenting on trends in the blockchain and crypto industries for 2021.

“There will be attempts to pass regulations for blockchain and crypto, large financial institutions will move funds into Bitcoin, and DeFi will stay prominent throughout 2021.”

• Dapp Industry Report 2020

2020 has proven to be a year of twists and turns. Despite these challenges, in the context of the global pandemic, blockchain applications and emerging technologies continue to thrive. As the dialogue on basic national income and the distribution of global database management systems changes, the global crisis appears to be drawing people’s attention to decentralized solutions.

Li Jun said: “An important achievement for us this year is the launch of Wing, an innovative cross-chain credit-based lending platform built on the Ontology blockchain. Wing improves the productivity of users’ assets through lending and borrowing and reduces users’ risks through insurance.

In 2021, our focus will be to further expand our applications and help more dApps solve problems related to user identity and data. Our goal is to further optimize the product experience and make it easier for users to use our cross-chain ONTO wallet, our decentralized credit-based lending platform Wing, and our data privacy product, SAGA.

We believe, as more and more players enter the field, DeFi will continue to develop, which will drive further innovation. Let’s see what 2021 holds!
