KuCoin AMA Series — Frontier (FRONT) — Full Transcript

Dear KuCoin Users,

Time: January 12, 2021, 11:00–12:05 (UTC)

KuCoin hosted an AMA (Ask-Me-Anything) with Frontier (FRONT) in the KuCoin Exchange Group.

Project Introduction:

Frontier is a chain-agnostic DeFi aggregation layer. Using Frontier, users can track and manage DeFi positions, stake assets, swap or exchange assets and explore more DeFi applications in one single place. Frontier is also building the Frontier Chain, which is a Decentralised Key Management Blockchain based on Cosmos SDK.

Q&A from KuCoin

Palash: Hey everyone! Excited to be here. Thank you for hosting me today and walking through all the events we have been together. KuCoin has one of the vibrant communities in crypto. Super excited!

Q: Can you give us a brief introduction to Frontier and DeFi Aggregation on mobile?

Palash: Frontier is a chain-agnostic DeFi aggregation layer. Using Frontier, users can track and manage DeFi positions, stake assets, swap or exchange assets and explore more DeFi applications in one single place. Frontier is also building the Frontier Chain, which is a Decentralised Key Management Blockchain based on Cosmos SDK. FRONT is the utility token that is used for:

Staking on Frontier Chain

1. Gasless transactions in the Application Suite (iOS and Android)

2. Liquidity Provisions (DEXs and AMMs)

3. Incentive Protocol (Incentivizing the use of DeFi via Frontier)

4. NFT Acquisition

5. Referrals

The Frontier Ecosystem includes
-Frontier DeFi Application — DeFi Aggregator on Mobile

-Frontier Chain — A Cosmos-based Decentralised Key Management Blockchain

-UniFront -Unified API for all DeFi Protocols and Services.

The core mission is to incentivise open finance. We are working on these utilities one by one. 2021 is all about focusing on making DeFi easy and onboarding more people!

Q: I noticed a pretty cool concept that you guys introduced called Wallet Composability. Can you elaborate a bit on that?

Palash: Wallet Composability means Wallet Aggregation, enabling users to connect all mobile wallets to Frontier. As Frontier is a DeFi interface on mobile, it was important for us to connect all these wallets. We came up with TxLink, which is a middleware which connects mobile wallets like Trust, Metamask, Coinbase wallet, imToken, AToken and other Ethereum-supported wallets to Frontier.

Now having functionality where users can connect wallets, these are following things users can do

1. Track their entire DeFi portfolio by entering the Ethereum wallet address

2. Stake assets like Matic, Kava, Band, and Harmony by connecting wallets

3. Explore DeFi protocols like AAVE, Compound, Yearn and more

4. Manage DeFi positions from one single place.

This gives users better UX and makes asset management easy.

Q: Let’s talk about protocols. What DeFi protocols does Frontier support? Are there any coming soon?

Palash: Frontier supports all the leading DeFi protocols on Ethereum such as MakerDAO, Synthetix, Compound, Aave, Uniswap, Yearn, dYdX, Balancer, InstaDApp, and TokenSets.

We also support other protocols such as Kava, which is a cross-chain CDP platform.

We are now actively working on Polkadot and working on adding support for the money market protocols, AMMs, and DEXs, etc.

tl;dr — almost all top protocols on Ethereum, Cosmos (Kava), Polkadot DeFi coming to Frontier soon.

Q: I see the Frontier App is only one part of the Frontier ecosystem. Are there any other products you guys are building?

Palash: We have Frontier Chain, a UniFront along with Frontier App. Let me explain them one by one.

Frontier Chain is a Cosmos SDK-based Decentralised Key Management Blockchain. We are using a well-known crypto algorithm called Shamir Secret Algorithm. We split the private key into multiple pieces and store them on blockchain as a state. Only clients who have authorization can retrieve these private keys. They can also be recovered this way.

In terms of comparing with existing blockchains, we are creating a new category. There is no such thing as the DKM category in the Blockchain space right now, but we will have a Cosmos-Flavoured Blockchain with DKM capabilities.

Next is Unifront — Unified APIs for DeFi wherein products can integrate and offer DeFi services such as borrowing/lending, Uniswap/balancer liquidity provisions, and staking in one single APIs. This saves tons of time spent on R&D and developer hours spent on building the infrastructure from scratch. Unifront essentially solves all this.

Q: So you’ve got the Frontier App, Frontier Chain and Unifront and you have a utility token $FRONT. Can you explain how $FRONT plays a role in these products?

Palash: FRONT is the utility token that is used for:

1. Staking on Frontier Chain — stake on validators to secure the network

2. Gasless transactions in the Application Suite (iOS and Android) — Hold $FRONT and get access to free/near-free gasless TXNs in App

3. Liquidity Provisions (DEXs and AMMs) — Provide liquidity and farm other assets. For example: provide FRONT liquidity and farm $LUA and $SRM, etc.

4. Incentive Protocol (Incentivizing the use of DeFi via Frontier)

5. NFT Acquisition — Frontier will allow content creators, blockchain companies, and other industry leaders to acquire and issue non-fungible tokens natively. $FRONT will be the preferred form of payment available for token issuance, transfer, and destruction.

6. Referrals — Frontier will develop a referral system that incentivizes users to bring their friends into DeFi. Community campaigns will also involve distributing $FRONT to members who have demonstrated a strong desire to help improve our ecosystem.

Q: Recently you’ve announced the Frontier FUSD initiative. Can you share more details about the FRONT-backed Synthetic Assets?

Palash: Frontier FUSD is one of the most ambitious initiatives to date: an exploration into $FRONT-backed synthetic and stable assets. This begins with our first deep and meaningful FUSD Initiative relationship. We’re inking a partnership with OIN Finance and entering into OINDAO, which will allow holders to stake $FRONT and mint $USDF1, a new and fully-audited $FRONT collateral-backed token redeemable for a variety of other liquid assets.

In short, $FRONT will be used to mint a new synthetic asset named $USDF1. Minters will earn $FRONT rewards and $USDF1 will eventually be used to swap into other tokens or redeemed for other items.

We are done with the deployment of contracts and are working on the docs, etc. USDF1 is coming out soon!

Q: Can you share some recent developments/partnerships/events you have done in the last few weeks?

Palash: We have been shipping things non-stop both on the token and product side. These include multiple integrations, the $FRONT token getting listed on exchanges, DeFi protocols and marketing initiatives.

Here are highlights from the last few weeks.

1. $FRONT FUSD initiative

2. KuCoin listing

3. Shipping Zilliqa staking support in our product

4. $FRONT getting listed on SushiSwap’s Onsen menu

5. Binance smart chain integration in our products

6. Frontier — BSC 2 way bridge

Free-Ask from KuCoin Community

Q: Why is the Xyz domain such a cheap rate domain?

Palash: lol, .xyz are the expensive ones. Trust me, Frontier.xyz was really expensive.

Q: How does “Unifront” work and what does it mean for DeFi applications?

Palash: To explain in a simple way, UniFront is like stripe for DeFi, one API product can integrate to get access to all DeFi protocols.

The Frontier App right is the live example of UniFront, we are looking into B2B use cases, etc. Developers can use UniFront instead of integrating platforms one by one, etc, custodians, and exchanges are the possible users who can use Unifront and benefit clients.

Q: Is $FRONT a stable coin/token?

Palash: $FRONT is not a stable coin. However, we are working on FRONT-backed synthetic assets. Check out our FUSD initiative to learn more: https://frontier.xyz/fusd

Q: Nowadays, hacking incidents have started to occur. Let’s say tomorrow $FRONT got hacked. Do you have any plans for that?

Palash: Frontier App is a non-custodial product. We don’t take users’ funds under custody. Our contracts are battle tested and have gone through multiple audits.

Q: What are your top 3 priorities in 2021? Could you share some plans for the upcoming year?

Palash:

1. Making our App better and faster.

2. Grow our community

3. Do more integrations on Polkadot, Ethereum, and Solana breaking the last year’s record.

Q: If we stake how much APY will we receive?

Palash: There are multiple places where you can use $FRONT.

Use it to provide liquidity and earn fees, farm other assets by staking FRONT, LP tokens, etc.

We are on SushiSwap’s Onsen menu, farm SUSHI with FRONT, farm SRM with FRONT, etc.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share or you want us to know?

Palash: Don’t sleep on Frontier, 2021 is gonna be BIG. Join the Frontier gang: https://t.me/FrontierDotXYZ_Chat

Let’s build the best DeFi Aggregator together.
